Bhayya is a total Vishal mark film falling into the same league as Vishal's previous films Pandem Kodi, Pogaru, Bharani.
Even though story is not new, the film will engage the audience for the span of the film.
Into the details: Jagan (Vishal) is a guy who cannot tolerate injustice in the society. He falls in love with Malati (Priyamani) who has love for nothing but studies. To get rid of Jagan she lies that she is in love with Guna (Ajay). Coming to know of this, Guna starts torturing Malati to love him for real. Once Jagan realizes all this, he beats up Guna black and blue. But Guna is the brother of a powerful don Mallanna (Devaraj). What happens next should be seen on the screen.
Bhayya is out and out Vishal's film. Amazing fights, good songs with apt dances, good comedy timing and not to mention his trademark angry young man looks - Vishal did very well in the role. And it wont be an exaggeration to say that most part of the film is run on his shoulders. Priyamani looked a bit slim compared to her recent Yamadonga. She did a good job as Malati. She is glamorous in songs.
Asish Vidyarthi and Urvasi characters are worth mentioning in the cast. They did good job. Especially comedy worked good in their flashback episode. Nirosha does not have much scope to perform. Devaraj and Ajay as villains are good in their respective roles. After Vikramarkudu this is the film that gave good length role for Ajay.
There isn't much novelty in the story but Bhupati Pandyan did a good job in keeping the audience engaged. One thing he in which he succeeded well is tailoring the character of Vishal that aptly fitted his body language. With some variety in a few episodes, the film passes on. Worth mentioning are the scenes where Vishal goes into the flashback episodes of Asish Vidyarthi and Urvasi; a sequence in second half where he manipulates two groups of goons; etc.
First half of the film has love track between the lead pair, 3 songs and 2 fights. Highlight of the first half is Asish Vidyarthi and Urvasi episode. Second half is total action packed with plenty of fights. If there is any lag felt in the film, that is in the second half.
Music by Mani Sharma is good. Re-recording is done very well. Dialogs by Sashank are good and content. Camera work and editing are also good.
Overall, Bhayya will appeal to those who like mass action flicks. Chances are very good for this film to make it big in B,C centers. Again, the range will depend on the forthcoming movies of this season.
